How Virtual Events Work

The Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k is a private (one company per night) custom curated event which is ideally suited for companies with a large cluster of employees in one main office location or companies with multiple office locations scattered throughout the country. The event is always co-branded, thus, sample event names could be The Deloitte Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k or The Gilbane Building Company Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k.

Each virtual event consists of a 5k run/walk component and a virtual race night.

With regards to the 5k, each participant will have the opportunity to run or walk a 5k course of their choosing (and submit their results if competing) within one week of the virtual event night. Distance can be measured and time can be calculated by literally any commonly used platform such as a Garmin or Apple watch, smartphone, FitBit or various running apps. (Map my Run, Strava etc) Walkers will operate on the honor system, we will take their word for it that they completed the 5k within one week of the virtual event. We will have race night awards for the 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd place male and female finishers.

The virtual race night will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night. Each team captain selects their company’s race night date when they register their team.

The agenda for the one hour virtual race night, hosted by a fantastic MC, is as follows:

MC welcome-race night overview
CEO Hello (either “live” or via pre-recorded message)
Company roll call (MC calls out names of all participating team members)
Running/Walking montage (5 minute video based on runner/walker submitted footage)
Five-5 Minute Challenges. (each challenge will allow up to 20 team members to pre-register
for and participate in)

Make Your Own Pizza
Up to 20 participants submit a photo of themselves holding their homemade pizza pie which will be produced into a short slide show. Other team members will vote on the winner using their smartphone.

Craft a Cocktail
Up to 20 participants submit a photo of themselves holding their custom crafted cocktail which will be produced into a short slide show. Other team members will vote on the winner using their smartphone.

15 Second Dance Off
In the spirit of Tic-Toc, up to 20 participants submit a 15 second dance video which will be spliced into a 5 minute video to be broadcast on race night. Other team members will vote on the winner using their smartphone.

Tee Shirt Bedazzle
Up to 20 participants sign up to “bedazzle” their Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k tee shirt. The photos will be produced into a slide show. Other team members vote on the winner using their smartphone.

Trivia Challenge
Our MC will be hosting a 5 question trivia challenge which will be broadcast live during the event. We are finalizing the exact structure of the trivia contest but the topic for the night(1990’s sitcoms, Oscar award winning movies etc) will be provided to all participants one week before the event.

Awards and Goodbyes
MC hosts awards which will be as follows:
Running Awards-1st, 2nd and 3rd place male & female.
Make Your Own Pizza winner
Craft a Cocktail winner
15 second dance off winner
Tee shirt bedazzle winner
Trivia challenge winner (s)

The Optional Swag Bag
In addition to the above documented experiential components, if so desired by the hosting company, we will mail to the residence of each team member a race night “swag bag” consisting of a co-branded Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k tee shirt and a finisher’s metal. By having every participant wear their tee shirt and finisher’s metal on race night, the team building/employee engagement event component is dramatically enhanced.

The Registration Process

The virtual event registration process will involve the same two step registration process as the “live” events.

Step 1: Create a Team
The team captain creates the company team and selects the event date by clicking on the “create a team” icon for the Corporate FunRun Virtual 5k which can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of our home page.

Step 2: Join a Team
After the company team has been created, employees can register themselves as team members by clicking on the “join a team” icon, opening up the respective company event name and signing themselves up. It’s during the team member registration process when participants decide whether or not they want to be a timed runner or untimed walker/jogger and select which team building activities they want to participate in.

Pricing and Fees

Each company will be provided with a fixed cost price for their virtual event with the two main determinants of price being the number of participants and whether or not the “swag bag” (tee shirt and finishers medal) option is chosen. Upon receipt of the race night invoice, companies can pay either over the phone by credit card or by mailing a check, whatever works best.
